Copyediting

A good copyeditor sharpens text and supports an author’s voice. I approach projects focused on three things:

Audience

Your audience often defines the tone, complexity, and style of your work. We can shape it for maximum impact.

Style

We can tailor your copyedit to match any style guide, whether it’s an article that distills a complex topic into plain language or a submission to a peer-reviewed journal with esoteric house rules.

Message

My job as an editor is to support authors and the messages they want to communicate. We’ll talk up front to establish key points and priorities, and we’ll ensure we remain on target during editing and revisions.

Publishing

I have extensive experience editing and formatting manuscripts for scientific journals and posters for presentation at scientific meetings. I also spent several years guiding the publication of academic monographs. I understand the process, its challenges, and how to guide your work to the finishing line.

Project Management

Publishing is a complex process. It involves many stakeholders. Milestones can be malleable. All the while, though, the publishing date looms, and it’s my job to ensure everything from senior review to graphic design to author approval proceeds smoothly.

I focus on consistency and fostering clear and collegial communication. You want buy-in from everyone who has a stake in a project, and you want to be confident that the project manager has the skill and wherewithal to bring things together on time and on budget.

Client Focus

A company’s voice needs to be consistent and clear across all media. A lot goes into making that happen. From font selection to house style, I make sure your project looks and sounds exactly as it should.
